30 Day Photography Assignment

I'm embarking on a personal quest. I've decided to take on a 30 day photography assignment. Is it perfect timing, no. But when is the perfect time, really?

It's time to keep growing as a photographer. I really want to start taking on some clients, and I need to build more confidence and gain more experience. What better way to do start, I ask?

I perused through several list, but settled on the following. My first assignment should be up shortly. I hope you enjoy!

Activity Pad

KT has really been in to coloring lately. So much so, that we bought her her first set of Crayola's this weekend - not the traditional kind, mind you. I had to run to Costco today for diapers (exciting life I lead these days) and saw this in their book section. They have some REALLY cool stuff for kids there. I know....who'd of thought, Costco!

Foreshadowing

I love this picture of her. Even without the volleyball. She looks tough. Not bully tough. More like "I am WOMAN, here me roar" tough. And she's only 15 months (this weekend, 16!).

I loved volleyball - I wish I would of seriously persued it more. I played from 7-12th and intramurals in college, but I would of loved to have continued. I can't wait for KT's volleyball days. I hope she gets more of Jeff's height so she can really excel at it! Not that 5'8" from me is skimpy...but still!

Weekend Adventure: Corpus Christi

Our weekend adventure at the coast

The plan was simple. We were just planning on going to see our friend Carilee's softball team play in Beeville, about an hour north of Corpus Christi, then head home. But, on Thursday night, I got to thinking, since we're so close and all, and KT's never been to the beach, and I'm all about the new experiences, etc..... thus the plan for going to the coast for the weekend was born! And the Ullevig's, who were also just going to go to the game, were on board as well! w00t!

On Saturday morning, we headed (as planned), down to Beevill to watch the Poth Pirettes kick some Bishop tail! I was getting a little worried in the 5th inning. But then, their catcher hit a homer and brought two runs in, tying the game. Another two runs were made by the Pirettes and it was a WIN! So happy for Coach Robbins and her Poth Pirettes!

Afterwards we grabbed a quick bite and headed to Corpus. We checked in to the hotel and immediately hit the beach. Alas, our "water time" was nonexistent as there were WAY too many jellies in the water. Only the occasional drunk fool was seen floating in the water.

The next morning, we went to the Texas State Aquarium. KT did so well at the Houston Zoo a few weeks back I just knew she'd love this! And she did - she was pretty patient through the entire dolphin show and everything!

Overall, we had a great trip - KT traveled like a champ - thank you, Lord, for giving me such an easy child! Have I ever truly thanked you for that?

We definitely want to go back to the coast again this summer for some more water time. Hopefully somewhere where there are less jellyfish! :(

Photo Shoot

It's hard to be creative in suburbia. I can only shoot the same scene over and over again w/o duplicating shots. Since we were headed out to my parents on Sunday evening, I decided to grab some dresses, a few headbands, a quilt (or 2) and a cute rocking chair my mother-in-law got KT awhile back to have an impromptu photo shoot out in the country.

My parents cliff and ravine were the perfect backdrop. I need to explore more to see what other shots I could get in. But, for about 20-25 minutes of camera time (maybe less!) I think these came out spectacular! Enjoy.

The Wedding Dress

I was sifting through old emails tonight, trying to find a recipe one of my girlfriends sent to me back in the day. "Back in the day" being 2004ish *sob* and I came across a few emails that contained all the pics from my wedding dress shopping.

I need to do a whole write up on my wedding, to document for my kiddos. I've still got some searching to do for the wedding pic disc, so until I find that, this is what we've got.

Wedding dress shopping really wasn't my thing. Not to say I didn't love my dress, but I wanted the tedious task to be over as soon as we were in the store. I tried on 5 dresses. That's it. Before I found the one!

First dress. Too much sequin, no thanks!

Second dress. Halter style - YIKES!

Third dress. Getting there, but just too many embellishments!

Fourth dress. If this came in any other color than white, I would of snagged it. I loved it. Simple. Simple. Simple. And fitted. But alas, only white, and I wanted something more champagne colored.

Fifth dress. The ONE. Fitted. Simple for most of the dress, except some embellishment up top. Bought it that day. LOVE!
