Operation: No More Carpet

Currently underway in our household, Operation: No More Carpet.

I'm so over carpet in my house. At this point in my life, with the pets, and the spills (and I'm just speaking for Jeff and myself) and the baby I can no longer take all this carpet. It's grossing me out.

And hopefully to make our house more attractive to potential buyers in a few more years, we decided to buy the flooring for the rest of the house. The day after KT's birthday, we headed to Lumber Liquidators and came back with two truckloads of flooring.

We're currently in the guest bedroom, but we'll be working our way out into the hall, and then the living room and finally finishing up in our bedroom. I can not WAIT to see our house after this is done. Kudos to my awesome husband who is doing to grunt work! He's so handy - I love that about him.

Say Cheese

I thought I was taking a picture, but I was in video mode. I love this quick "snapshot" of her posing. I see a glimpse of her in a few more years (maybe sooner) posing for Mama in front of the camera. *love*

I realize I'm looking pretty rough (disregard)

"Don't Stop, Make it Pop"

KT loooooooooves to dance, I have come to find out. If there is music on tv, she will stop whatever she is doing to listen and "bop" up and down. So frickin' cute - I LOVE IT! My sister in law, Jenny and her husband, Ryan gave KT this....monster... if you will, toy for her birthday. It plays this catchy little tune and KT can NOT get enough of it. She has learned how to turn it on and off, she won't let us leave the house without it. I even took it to school with her one day so I wouldn't have to fight her for it :). My cousin told me that this was Kesha (Tick Tock) recorded on there. I am SO out of the current music loop.

Please disregard my nasty carpets *shame*

Train (in Concert)

We watched the Rodeo for about 2 hours before Train came on

and now for the main event

So Jeff and I aren't big concert goers. It's definitely not because we aren't passionate about music, because we both love music. It's mostly because we're cheap. Okay, fine, I'm cheap. Spending all that money to listen to someone sing music I can hear on my iPod at home just seems ridiculous to me.

But, as a general rule, I'm trying to lighten up. I don't want to miss opportunities during this point in my life because I didn't want to spend the money sometimes.

We found out the band Train was going to be in town for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and after both of us looking at each other with a questioning brow raise, we said "do you?" - I love Train. So why the hell not!

Of course, all the affordable tickets were sold out online. So we took to Craigslist and Jeff found a reasonable pair! So, SCORE!

Let me just say, we had a fantastic time! Train is awesome in concert - the main vocals, Patrick Monahan, has THE most beautiful voice. Jeff and I both agreed. So many times people sound horrible live, but man, these guys were GOOD! They sang all my favorites, "Meet Virginia", "Hey, Soul Sister", "Drops of Jupiter" and so many more.

If you have the opportunity to go see these guys - I highly recommend. Happy Valentine's Day to us!

Copy Cat

KT loves to have you copycat her. When she does a move, sometimes she looks over her shoulder at you as if to say "Hello? Your turn." So the other night she was doing this stretch move and Jeff started copying her and this is what ensued:

Mwah

Hello Dahlings,

The laundry is going. The house is clean"ish". I have a good drink (non-alcoholic) in hand. And I've decided NOT to open up my work laptop tonight (shhhhhh.....).

Instead, I've changed into my jammies, cleaned off my desk, popped my knuckles, stretched my neck and decided to post a few blogs. Something I've been desperately wanting to do these past few weeks and yet, trying to find time in between breathing has been difficult to say the least.

I am a Mama first and foremost, and keeping this blog current, so that my children can chronicle our lives one day is important to me. So I must make time.

Aside from KT turning the big one a few weeks ago, in which I have already posted about, our lives haven't been too exciting. But aren't the little things exciting enough? The giggles, the family time. It's all on the same level now.

So, put on your specs. Or grab yourself a cup of joe. I feel like pounding out a few posts for your enjoyment.

Snack Station

My mom told me about this snack station idea awhile back, and being overwhelmed with life and work, and just about everything else these days, I pushed it to the back of my mind in the hopes that it would resurface one day.

But my Mom saved me the trouble. As she is wont to do around holiday times, now that KT is around, she prepared an extreme Valentine's Day basket for KT and it came with, none other than a "Snack Station".

Essentially, it's a muffin tin. You can buy a 6-muffin or a 12-muffin tin, and you put 'samples' in each tin, and voila! But the most enjoyable part about this 'station' is watching your little one pick and choose what she/he likes. So cute! I was shocked about what KT chose. Observe:

Try it with your little one. It really helps you understand what they favor and what they don't. And it's a great way to introduce variety!
