NYC: Day 7

Well, we're in the last few hours of our trip. We've had such a fantastic adventure! Boston and New York are just so different than good 'ole San Antonio, Texas, that it is like traveling to a foreign country. Some could argue the language up here is actually foreign, based on some accents we heard! We've had a blast and made fantastic memories along the way. Thank you to all who could make this happen for us! We are ready to get back our precious baby. And also our own bed.

Before I recap our day, I just want to send a shout out to my husband, Jeff, my FAVORITE travel companion. He turned 30 today. And we spent it in NYC. How great is that? Honestly, I can not ask for such a better person to travel with. He's so laid back. If you make a suggestion, he's like "sure, let's do it" - I LOVE that about him. Seriously. He's not scared to go anywhere or try anything and really, what more could you want? He's jumped on the travel wagon full heartedly. So awesome! So happy birthday, Babe. You're honest-to-goodness the BEST. Hands down. Love you.

Now, on to the nitty gritty. We bought tickets to go to the top of Rockefeller a few days ago. But had yet to use them. We had originally planned on going up at sunset/nighttime for some great night views/shots, but they told us we couldn't use our tripod, so getting shots were going to be difficult to say the least. So we decided to hold off until Friday morning so we could get some great day shots.

So back to Rockefeller Plaza this morning and I have to say. Put this on your must do list when you go to NYC. We did not do the Empire State Building, but from others who've done both, I've heard Rockefeller is as equally good (if not better). The views are gorgeous and breathtaking and, although you know you're in one of the largest cities in the world, it's more evident from the top. Take away the trash on the streets, the chaos of the people going back and forth, the noise. And this city is truly breath taking. Don't forget your camera though. Never forget your camera. :)

After the Rock, we knew exactly where we were heading. Hoboken, Baby!! Home of Carlo's Bakery from the famous TLC show The Cake Boss. Jeff and I have been watching this show for quite some time and, since it was his birthday, why not, right? So we mapped out the sub system and took ourselves to Jersey! The line was long, but got longer after we arrived, and the wait, in total was around 1.5 hours.

By the time we got out of Carlo's Bakery (no pastriest consumed at this point), we wanted to head to Brooklyn to check out Grimaldi's Pizzeria (the original!). They have a location in San Antonio (at La Cantera) that we tried a few months ago. And boy, was it delicious! When we found out they were in NYC, we said "We must!". So, since it was our last day, we headed there for lunch. Conventiently located under the Brooklyn Bridge! The place was tiny, and had a line forming outside. Took us another 30 minute wait outside till a table was free. And in we went. They've got this system down. Sit. Order (immediately). Drink. Eat. Out. :) But, hey, you do whats yous gots to do to get a good slice of da pie in this city!

We took our leftovers and decided we would walk the Brooklyn Bridge. It was under construction, but still gorgeous. Bridges are so fascinating, don't you think? Particularly the old ones. I love that pedestrians in this city use them. And cyclists.

There is still so much of this city that we've yet to get to, but we're saving it for the next trip. But I think we saw alot in the time we had, that's for sure!

We got a notice from Southwest airlines that our flight to Chicago tomorrow afternoon may be canceled/delayed because of weather issues. So they offered a flight change. And we snatched it up! So we actually leave around 7:30 tomorrow morning instead of our original 2:30. Say a prayer for us that we don't have any delays or cancellations tomorrow. We want to get home!
